There was a time when I thought having a solid daily wellness routine meant doing everything perfectly—green juice every morning, intense workouts, a cabinet full of supplements, and never missing a step.
Now, my approach looks very different.
As a busy mom, I’ve learned that wellness has to be realistic to actually work. It’s not about doing everything—it’s about doing a few simple healthy habits consistently.
This is my everyday wellness routine—the one that supports my energy, my mood, and my life without feeling overwhelming.
My Everyday Wellness Routine
Here’s what my daily wellness routine actually looks like in this season of life:
1. Opening Windows and Doors for Fresh Air
One of the first things I do every morning is open the windows, even if it’s just for 10–15 minutes.
It instantly changes the feel of the house.
Letting in fresh air helps improve indoor air quality, boosts energy, and clears out that stale, heavy feeling from overnight. It’s such a simple habit, but it makes a noticeable difference in my mood and focus.
2. A Slow, Intentional Morning Start
I try not to jump straight into chaos the second I wake up.
No immediately grabbing my phone or diving into notifications. That kind of start puts your body into a stress response before the day even begins.
Instead, I ease into the morning:
- Drinking water first
- Taking a few deep breaths
- Letting things feel calm (even if it’s brief)
It helps me start the day feeling grounded instead of reactive.
3. Red Light Therapy
Red light therapy has become one of my favorite daily habits.
I use it when I can in the morning, or later in the day if mornings get busy. It’s a small ritual that feels like a luxury, but it also supports things like skin health, inflammation, and overall cellular energy.
Even just 10 minutes feels like a reset.
4. Daily Movement
I’ve let go of the idea that every workout needs to be intense.
Right now, I focus on consistency and movement that actually feels good in my body. That might look like:
- Walking outside
- Strength training
- Stretching
Lower-stress movement is so important, especially for managing cortisol levels. Walking, in particular, is one of the most underrated wellness habits.
5. Morning Sunlight + Circadian Rhythm
Getting natural sunlight early in the day is something I try to prioritize whenever possible.
Even a few minutes outside helps regulate your circadian rhythm, which impacts your sleep, energy, and hormones.
Sometimes it’s a walk, sometimes it’s just standing outside with my coffee while my daughter plays—but it all counts.
6. Nourishing my Body
I don’t follow anything extreme when it comes to food.
Instead, I focus on balanced meals that support my energy and blood sugar throughout the day.
For me, that looks like:
- Protein at most meals
- Whole, simple ingredients
- Healthy fats and carbs
As a pescatarian, I lean on fish, eggs, grains, and lots of vegetables. It’s not about perfection—it’s about feeling good.
7. Supplements that Actually Support Me
I keep my supplements simple and intentional.
I don’t believe in taking everything under the sun—just what actually supports my body and fills in gaps.
Some of my staples include:
- Iron + Vitamin C
- Omega-3s
- Vitamin D
- Magnesium (especially at night)
For me, it’s about quality over quantity.
8. Reducing Toxins in My Home (In a Realistic Way)
I’ve become more mindful about creating a low-tox home, but in a way that still feels realistic.
I’m not aiming for perfection. I just try to make better swaps where I can—like using cleaner household products or being more aware of what I’m bringing into our space.
Small changes add up over time.
9. Hydration + Minerals
Hydration seems basic, but it’s something so many of us overlook.
I focus not just on drinking water, but also on supporting hydration with minerals and electrolytes when needed.
This makes a big difference in:
- Energy
- Headaches
- Skin
It’s one of those simple habits that impacts everything.
10. Nervous System Regulation (My Reset Moments)
This has been one of the biggest shifts in my wellness routine.
Throughout the day, I check in with myself and notice if I’m holding tension or slipping into that constant “go” mode.
When I am, I reset with:
- Deep breathing
- Stepping outside
- Slowing down for a minute
It helps bring my body out of fight-or-flight and back into a more calm, balanced state.
My Evening Wind-Down Routine
At night, I try to signal to my body that it’s time to slow down.
This isn’t always perfect (mom life), but I do what I can:
- Lower lighting
- Less screen time when possible
- Magnesium or tea
- A simple skincare routine
These small habits help support better sleep and give my body a chance to fully rest.
The Real Secret to Wellness
If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this: wellness doesn’t need to be complicated to be effective.
You don’t need a perfect routine or a long list of habits.
Start small:
- Open the windows
- Move your body
- Eat nourishing foods
- Create moments of calm
Over time, those small habits stack into something powerful.
A healthy lifestyle isn’t built in one day—it’s built in the small choices you make every day.
